Morning Coffee

I sit in the quiet of the early day with my fresh piping hot coffee.
It’s a time of peace and danger.
The danger that I may slip away.
Again.
The morning quiet is full.
Full of love.
Love without reason.
Unreasonable love fills the room.
Unreasonable non-negotiable love wells up within me.
I cannot contain this fullness.
And so
Between one sip of coffee and the next.
I am no more.
Moments With You

In those moments
when you are truly yourself,
uninhibited, unselfconscious, unfiltered.
I want to be with you. Then.
I want to be there when you fall asleep.
I want to be there when you wake up in the morning.
In the early hours when all is dark and quiet. And yet still.
I want to be there when you fall into love. Or even anger.
Or better yet, stubborn obstinacy.
I want to be with you when you are overcome.
Tears in your eyes, a flush on your cheeks.
I want to see you when you lose your sense of who you are,
And most especially,
I want to be with you in that moment you find yourself again.
