Fun
Fun
One of the topics that is the most transformative for my coaching clients is the topic of Fun.
Literal fun. Not finding the fun in something. Not doing the hard thing and allowing yourself some fun after. But the realization that life is fun.
Even when it doesn't look like it at first.
One client wanted to get more clients in her business. She kept assuming that this activity wasn’t fun and then creating from there. She was giving herself a foundation of “this won’t be enjoyable, and it will be hard” as the first directive of the creation.
So then, Big Surprise! the ideas she came up with were boring, hard, and stressful. She then struggled to implement these un-fun ideas. And then, to top it all off, she blamed herself for "just not being the kind of person that is good at business".
Whew! That's exhausting!
And yet we all do a version of this. In different areas of life.
With this client, we began by looking at the foundation of life or reality without any assumptions.
What if we are the pure, undifferentiated powerful energy of life itself in squishy body human packaging?
What if everything we might create is available as a possibility? Including how we might see or label a type of activity, circumstance, or person.
Why label something as "not fun" even before starting?
Why not create something fun?
Why not start with something like "I want to create a vibrant business for myself, and I don't know what that will be like, but I think it could be a fun ride finding out"?
When she saw that she was creating “hard” and that she really didn’t have to, she stopped. We stop naturally when we understand something is a choice.
Then the magic started to happen: She got idea after idea for fun ways to increase her business. And she started producing them. And people came to her. And it was fun again.
She said working with me was like unwrapping a specially created handmade gourmet chocolate each session. Delicious.
If you are willing to try an experiment this week, see if you can drop the idea that something is "hard" or "not fun". Would you be willing to see what that something is without deciding what it will be?
To experience something fresh without any judgment?
With Love,
Sara Joy
