High Performer Sees the Reality Fueling Performance

High Performer Sees the Reality Fueling Performance

A client of mine was struggling with limitations at work and in his two businesses after physically healing from a head injury after a bad fall.

He was very accustomed to performing at a very high level. Competing in his sport internationally with an extremely intelligent and quick intellect, he was used to pressure and being able to do it all. With effort (of course).

After his physical healing, he was left with a range of odd dysfunctions that happen when the brain can't run as fast as a person is used to anymore. There are glitches in the system. A person needs to slow down and access a totally different way of being in the world without thinking.

And nobody tells you (or even knows) that there's a completely different mode of being and operating at a high level in the world that doesn't require fast thinking. And actually, works much better. With better results. Whether you've had an injury or not.

What!?!

How come no one ever told us!

That is actually the response a lot of people have when they realize how easy they could have been living life all this time.

Performance, contrary to popular belief, doesn't come from going faster mentally, trying harder or putting more pressure on yourself.

It's the exact opposite.

The clarity that comes with internal slowing down allows for outside speed and performance like never before. It's magic.

Two aspects of this were game changers for my client in his work and his businesses:

1) You aren't responsible for someone else's emotions beyond basic kindness and respect.

He'd been taught that he was responsible if someone else had an emotion they didn't like - in response to something he did or said. Many people think a version of this. Being responsible for how your well-intentioned words are received. If you think about it, though, it's a way of being held hostage. "Don't say anything! I might not like it."

In reality, each person generates their own feelings and emotions based on their internal thought processes and habits. They are responsible for their own feelings. It's actually impossible (and kind of abusive) to be responsible in that way for another person.

The logical implication is that you are solely responsible for your own emotions as well.

When my client fully saw this, it freed up so much of their time and also their confidence to speak up at work. His performance, in general, went up when he wasn't spending so much time thinking up ways of pleasing or appeasing others when it was never his job to begin with.

2) You can get off a train of thought.

You don't need to ride a train of thought all the way to the end of the line.

Conversely, you don't need to figure out where each train started. When you notice that you are on a train of thought that doesn't feel good or is going nowhere. You can jump off. Fully abandon it.

You aren't ignoring anything. You aren't in denial. You aren't bypassing anything.

You're using your common sense to see when it's time to get off the ride. It's part of our natural way of operating. This allows our naturally infinite supply of energy to express itself and flow.

This is what fuels high performance. And the best part is that it's unlimited.

This was mind-blowing for my client and their team, in that they had been spending a lot of time and energy needlessly chasing down futile trains of thought. Or riding them until the end of the line.

He told me later that they quote me in team meetings around productivity.

"Remember, Sara said 'You can just get off the train'!"

Amazing! Their company productivity went up massively by focusing on what is working and energizing and not on every train of thought.

If you are hitting up against a plateau or ceiling in your performance or productivity, consider joining us for our annual retreat day to unlock your new way of being or work with me one-on-one to shift from your own limits into new productivity and effortlessness super fast.
